The video below is obviously heavily inspired by early logo animation. Good stuff!

Here’s an animation I made for the SP, a political party in the Netherlands, for their member day. It had to be a feast, energetic and fresh. Let me know what you think! High res version here.

A philosophical animation about what evil is or could mean. Very nice, naive style of design and rendering, somewhere in between motion graphics and animation.

Nokia doesn’t seem like the type of company to risk its reputation by attaching its name to projects and concept bound to fail. For the person that has no understanding of nanotechnology, the concept visualized below seems rather far-fetched. However, if it is theoretically possible, it would open the door to a lot of possibilities. Whatever they’re dreaming up, let’s just wait and see 😉

This robot was ‘animated’ with brainwaves! Full story at we-make-money-not-art.

A very nice story about … a Danish poet. It won an Oscar in 2006 for animated short film.

This is pretty weird. Supposedly, Steven Spielberg has come up with the concept of the game “Boom Blox” that will be released by EA somewhere in the near future. The strange thing is, that Spielberg’s signature is very hard to find in at least the trailer. Let’s see how Spielbergonesque the game will turn out.

Spielberg or not, looks like a fun game to play!

Nobody has seen Wall-E yet, but we know what he/it looks like. Nice concept, very cool emotional expressions from a robot, the high quality stuff we’re used to getting from Pixar.

However, there’s a very striking resemblance between Wall-E and the robot from the 1986 movie ‘Short Circuit’, called ‘Johnny 5’. Even stranger, the box art is also suspiciously similar. There’s of course a hard to define line between inspiration and stealing, but it seems to me as though Pixar is balancing on the edge here.

The picture of Wall-E was inverted to resemble the colors of Johnny 5 more.

And now for a lighter note after the previous post, muppet Beaker singing the great song ‘Mimi’. Would make a good doomsday song, don’t you agree?

You might know Randy Newman as a singer from a while back. What you might not know, is that he is the in-house composer of Pixar these days. He made the score of Toy Story, A Bug’s Life, Toy Story 2 and Monsters Inc.

Recently, Disney’s composer Alan Menken was (by John Lasseter of Pixar) disposed of and replaced by Randy Newman, to create the score of the upcoming Disney movie The Princess and the Frog. Below is a very odd song sung by Newman himself.
